MUCKEFUCK - THE AFTERBIRTH
by Chris Cab
INTRO
It was during one of my first Cali Skateboard trips, to the Washington Street Bridge in 2005. One
post session hazy evening I found myself sitting in a legendary San Diego living room. Little did I
know at the time that I was about to witness a „Breaking News“ moment first hand. The Vertical
Vampire (D. Navarette), the Heshmaster (S. Hitz) himself, Parts (A. Partanen) and Peter (fucking
Hewitt) were chatting about possibly bringing Creature Skateboards back from the dead and just
how sick it would be! And sure enough, against all odds and just some months later, Creature was
resurrected after being declared dead ever since 1995. You know, skateboarding can do this -
die, be dead and re-surrect - in fucking PRIDE! Basically, again and again, our industry shows: you
can’t kill the core…
THE PAST (is done and dusted)
Pretty much around the same time in 2005, nestled in the Austrian Alps, in a little Tyrolean City
named Wörgl, MUCKEFUCK Skateboards was pushed out of the industries vagina. With the help
of Pilotto shop owner and entrepreneur Marco Pilotto, Roman Astleitner jumped the gun and brought Muckefuck Skateboarding in to this awesome game called Skateboarding. Together Roman and Marco supported and pushed the Austrian skateboard scene for well over two decades.
Founding, amongst other passion projects, such as the “King of the ramp contest” from 2004 to 2008 the infamous wooden DIY train bowl (aka the “Bones ramp”) in Kufstein and the Wörgl DIY (what used to be) the largest ongoing concrete DIY in Europe at the time. In 2011 it was time to shift the focus a bit more internationally. Thus happened with the start of Muckefuck URETHANE. With well over 200 designs under the belt, many by local and international artists, such as Ferdz Valencia from the Philippines, Julien Fincker from Germany or Lukas Goller and Davide Ceccarelli from Italy and more than 50 Riders from all corners of this goddamn planet, it was easy to name drop some serious heavy hitters!
THE PRESENT (is psyched)
Jumping to the more present of times: when I recently got the call from Asti (Roman fucking A.)
the hype was surely real and the stoke for this project instantly got me amped to get involved in
whatever given way! Unfortunately the Pilotto Shop (est. 1978) had to close its doors for good just
before Covid hit us all. Around the same time, things got really quiet around Muckefuck
too. He told me in a good old fashioned 45min. chat about all the happenings, plans and
shenanigans and asking me to get involved and write up a sort of press release. So here I am,
doing exactly this. So what does the future hold?
THE FUTURE (remains core)
Well, with the Black Heaven Skateshop (est. 2009 in Münster Germany) and its expansion as a distribution in 2019, generally holding it down for the core skate AND music scene, founding, supporting and promoting brands such as: KOLOSS, Death by Coffee, Witchcraft Hardware & Confusion Magazine, to name just a few, the future is looking pretty damn fucking good to say the least. Reason being, Markus Koch (owner of Black Heaven shop) has decided to join forces with Muckefuck to do the same thing they do every day – trying to take over the world!
„By the Riders for the Riders“ has a serious meaning with the collaboration of two greatest in the core Industry. Therefore it is time to once again, rise from the dead! Stay tuned for more news and madness coming to your local shops and parks. We ain’t done just yet! Long live the intergalactic urethane, where happiness is guaranteed!
